A 20-year-old man was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) yesterday nursing stab wounds to his body after he was involved in an altercation with another man.
According to reports reaching this newspaper, the young man, Paul Rodney, who hails from West Ruimveldt, was hanging out at a popular drinking spot in Albouystown when an argument ensued between himself and another young man.
Confirmed reports are that Rodney was stabbed in the right side of his chest, but this newspaper was reliably informed that the man sustained at least two wounds. The bleeding man was rushed to the public institution by his friend, Michael Oies.
Recounting the events leading up to the incident, Oies said that he and Rodney were attending a fun day in the Albouystown area.
He said that he was participating in a game of football, and was aware that his friend was watching the game.
Oies said that he realised that there was some sort of a commotion, and on further investigation, noticed that Rodney was engaged in a fight with another young man.
Not long after, Oies said, he realised that Rodney was stabbed, causing him to rush to his friend’s aid.
A taxi was summoned and a bloodied Rodney was taken to the GPHC, where medical attention was immediately administered to him.
Rodney has since been admitted to the hospital in a stable condition.
According to an emotional Oies, he is not aware that his friend had any enemies.
Meanwhile, police are claiming that no suspect has been fingered in the incident, since neither the wounded man nor anyone else has been able to identify the perpetrator.
