Everest 4-team Emancipation 15-overs Softball Cricket competition played on August 1 at the Everest ground was won by Speed/Ray’s Auto Sales.
In the final, Speed/Ray’s Auto Sales made 93 for 6 in their 15-overs with Sheik Mohamed hitting 18. C.
Sukraj picked up 2 for 20 for their opponents, Desperado, who fell short at 90 for 7 in 15-overs. Brian Gomes made a spirited fight with 28. Kamal Seebarran picked up 3 for 18 for the winners.
In the opening game Speed Ray’s Auto Sales made 140 for 5 with Ricky Deonarine making 48 (4x4s & 3x6s) Abbass Farouk 35 (1×4 & 3x6s).
Their opponents, Scotia Bank were dismissed for 98 in 14-overs.
The second match resulted in Everest reaching 116 all out in 15-overs with A. Dookie striking 38 (4x4s & 3x6s), while B. Ramsaroop picked up 5 for 18 for Desperado, who replied with 117 for 7 in 13 overs.
A. Persaud scored 41 and Brian Gomes 27 their victory to see them join the eventual winners in the final.
