Dear Editor,
Preservation of national treasures plays a very important role within any country’s Tourism Sector and if we can’t maintain the preservation of our rich history, we might as well just take ourselves off the international market as a tourist destination.
I just read in the Guyana Times a few days ago about a treasure in Berbice ‘El House-Ancient Building”, which is under consideration of been demolished by the current owner and I really believe that it will be a disaster for that to happen.
I expect that The Berbice Chamber Of Commerce has an input in persuading that owner from carrying out the demolishing of one of Guyana’s Treasures and the Tourism Agencies or any related agency must now take a step and make some sort of arrangement in preserving the “El House.”
