Dear Editor,
As the Congress of our dear beloved People’s Progressive Party (PPP) takes place this weekend at the Diamond School, delegates and observers alike must hold the view that Moses Verasammy Nagamootoo is the man who must win the most votes at the elections for the Central Executive and by extension the Executive Committee.
When Mrs. Janet Jagan was President, Cde. Moses had scored the highest at the Congress that was held at Zeeburg School because the delegates recognised the ideological similarity and political sincerity like that of Our Great Leader, Cde. Cheddi Jagan.
Cde. Moses is the living representation and mirror of Cde. Cheddi. He thinks and knows the party like Cde. Cheddi.
These are the major reasons why we must support Cde. Moses with all our might:
1. Cde. Cheddi had told people in Lethem and other areas of the country that Cde. Moses is the man to take over. (No one in the PPP can say this is a lie because they know this is the truth)
2. He understands and lived an exemplary pattern of Party Life
3. He can mobilise members at all levels of the party
4. He has an excellent relationship with young people in giving them solid advice for their development
5. Cde. Moses has international respect
6. He is a highly educated and successful lawyer who fights in the courts for justice for PPP supporters and members like all of us
7. He can manage the economy competently and implement fiscal and monetary policies second to none in the PPP
8. He can create the conditions for more jobs through massive foreign investments
9. Cde. Moses will solve the crime situation that has left many PPP supporters and members dead or forced to leave the country.
10. Cde. Moses will be able to dialogue with the opposition to bring about national harmony and racial equality
11. Cde. Moses will convince the ‘anti-forces’ that the PPP will follow Cde. Cheddi in not recriminating or discriminating
12. Under Cde. Moses, ‘the small man will be the real man’ because he has dedicated all of his life, political energy and zeal to improving the lives of the working class
13. He is the most intelligent and widely-read PPP member as of today with a unique style of sophistry.
14. He is respected around the world as the most honest and sincere man in the PPP to become the next the President of Guyana
15. Cde. Moses will handle the media in an open and transparent manner, free and fair and free from fear
16. Cde. Moses is a true apostle of democracy, good governance and honesty.
Even though Comrade Donald Ramotar is an excellent party comrade, he does not posses all the qualities of an excellent leader.
This is because:
a) Cde. Cheddi never identified Cde. Donald as the man to take over
b) Cde. Donald is emotionally fragile
c) He does not have any experience in managing the government apparatus because he has never held a government office
d) Cde. Donald is not as highly qualified as Cde. Moses
e) Cde. Donald has limited qualifications compared to Cde Moses
f) Cde. Donald cannot motivate people in his speeches
g) Cde. Donald’s political utterances are sometimes derogatory and filled with sarcasm
i) Cde. Donald does not have vision to run a country and so his position as General Secretary should be the highest that he should hold.
To my PPP Comrades, when the time comes, his election to the Central Executive and by extension the Presidency, even though Donald may appear on the surface to be acceptable, when it comes to party matters, he is ideologically superficial compared to Cde. Moses.
Cde. Moses is the Man for the Job!!
