DEAR EDITOR,
I write this letter in response to one written by Mr. Leon James Suseran in Kaieteur News dated July 29th, 2008 and captioned, “Websites that are like Gravesites.”
It seems on this occasion this avid writer may have gotten his facts a bit mixed up. As part of the maintenance team for the Roman Catholic Youth Website I would like to note that the site listed in the aforementioned letter is updated on a very regular basis with very captivating and highly interesting information ranging from pictures of youth activities around the Diocese to priceless information about the Roman Catholic Faith along with our very own youths sharing their testimonies/talents with others, fully utilising this more than apt communication guru, the internet.
It is an utter misfit to even begin to compare this site with that of a “gravesite” and unfortunately the facts in your letter pertaining to that of the Roman Catholic Youth Website (www.rcyouth.org.gy) are severely inaccurate.
I cannot, however, comment on the other sites but I am more than positive that you are dead wrong about the above mentioned site.
Coupled with this fact, the site is in no way dormant and even attracts youths who are able to create their own user profiles allowing them to participate fully in the interactive sections of the website.
Testimony to this is the reality that you yourself have contributed to this site, sharing with us the happenings of your own parish and the youth activities all the way in Berbice.
It is very unfortunate that Mr. Suseran has decided to take a break from the very necessary and indispensable job of fact-collecting and research.
I however hope that this mistake is corrected and an apology is forthcoming. Our site is not in no form of “technological coma” but rather mirrors the youths of our Diocese – vibrant and bursting with interest.
