Aug 01, 2008 Dem Boys Seh, Features / Columnists
When things ain’t go right people does seh, “kok pass”. Dem boys seh that kok pass Tuesday when all dem big businessmen meet fuh a tax seminar at Pegasus.
Was nice to see de whole place full and of course dem had coffee and tee and cake and things like that to mek sure the people stay.
One man who had diabetes get vex because he claim how dem bring he out he house fuh tempt he wid all dem sweet thing, knowing full well that he can’t even think about eating starchy thing. He was the fuss one who claim “kok pass”.
De people who hold de seminar talk about all dem things that dem does do when dem get involve in privatization deals and in seeking investment.
Dem talk about de tax holiday; dem talk about incentive package; and dem confuse demself about which deal does go to Cabinet and which don’t go.
Dem boys seh that one man claim how only some of de things does go to Cabinet while de other man claim how is everything does go to Cabinet.
That was de fuss confusion. De second bit of confusion was when de fat man talk how is only four companies that get deals although de deal didn’t advertise.
Right away dem boys and all dem businessmen decide to count. Some count pun dem finger, some count pun dem finger and toe.
If you see dem and all of dem realize that was more than four, that de organizers did not count Queens Atlantic Investments and de Hard Times newspaper.
Who Gawd bless no man curse. Bob Marley seh suh and dem boys had to believe. As soon as one of dem man start fuh ask a question dem moderator tell de whole place that this is not a press conference. Kok pass.
Dem boys learn that dem ain’t gun ever get answer to anything bout de Hard Times paper or bout de company that people seh lending dem space.
And that is why people like Sister Miranda from de Big Market paper find all manner of loophole in de argument. She want to know how de company only occupy de land in 13 months and coulda clean up fuh 14 months.
She also want fuh know how come de people who printing de Hard Times paper announce that de press that printing de newspaper could print a wide range of packaging material, corrugated containers, folding cartons, paper sacks, plastic bag, books, magazines—you name it de press could do it.
But is de same press that de managers seh ain’t got nothing to do wid Queens Atlantic and how de Hard Times paper prepare fuh pay fuh whatever space it use.
Dem boys want fuh know which father gun ask he baby son fuh pay rent when he can’t even find he own foot? Suh dem know fuh sure that kok pass.
But more kok pass when de same Hard Times paper ask de Waterfalls paper fuh $40 million. But dem come smart. Dem claim how dem get libel and slander. Which company can get slander?
De Waterfalls paper send a message telling de Hard Times paper to go to New Building Society because that place got so much money that people thiefing and de company putting it back.
And when it come to put back dem boys want to know how people can put back property that dem get by mistake. Is Geoff seh that de people who give in to Queens Atlantic mek a mistake.
Dem boys seh that he playing Dr Reid who tell de whole nation how de government mek a mistake when it scrap de railway.
Geoff seh that he, not de government, mek a mistake when he privatize de Sanata complex. De government go to Parliament to correct de situation and mek things right.
Dem boys seh that you can’t pass a law and mek it retroactive. That is why dem boys want to know if dem gun scrap de deal and start over.
If that is de case then a lot of money got to give back and everybody know that that ain’t gun happen. Who gun ship back out all dem things that come duty free?
Talk half. Lef half.
