Dear Editor,
Please allow me to comment on the media release of the Guyana Office for Investment, which seeks to attack the Private Sector Commission for demanding an apology for the bad manners exhibited in the insult to Mr. Yesu Persaud by the President.
The Go-Invest release mentions that the Ministry of Finance has had to make some rectification of the existing laws affecting investment.
Had Go-Invest brought these hiatuses to the attention of the Ministry of Finance during the five years it (Go-Invest) had been administering the law, the President would not have been led to make the unacceptable remarks made on 5th June last.
Further, Go-Invest, in its media release, seeks to unforgivably put QAII into the cross-fire of this unsavoury affair.
Go-Invest needs to make an apology to the Private Sector for its gauche release published in the Guyana Chronicle of 18/6/08.
The unpleasant smell of this whole affair will not go away; the President and Go-Invest must take necessary action to remove it.
