Hernandes, Hall, Cort score impressive victories
Republican Gym boxer Rayan Hernandes produced some devastating punches that forced the referee to stop his bout 50 seconds into round two against Timehri Warriors Hubert Adams in final night action of the Guyana Amateur Boxing Association National Open Championships yesterday.
Hernandes had earlier caused the referee to inflict a mandatory eight count against Adams in the opening round after a barrage of shots left the lanky boxer momentarily dazed.
In other available results: Nigel Ames (Sophia) lost to Akeem Daniels (Harpy Eagles); John Moore (Ricola) lost to Isaiah Lall (Ric); Orin Johnson (WSB) was defeated by Tesuan McKenzie (Forgotten Youth Foundation); Marlon Darrell (Ric) won by walkover from Richard Williamson (PRBG); Kelvin Moore (Essequibo) beat Derick Hyman (Essq); Marvin Ageday (FYF) beat Odell Persaud (ESSQ); Randolph Singh gave a walkover to Kelsie Mayers (Rep); Quacy Hall (TW) stopped Ray Pollard (TW) in round one and Nawaz Alli (Rep) was stopped in round one by Jermain Cort (Rep).
