Ex-army officer Walter Kendall is claiming that the police have failed to conduct an investigation into a breakage at his home on Thursday.
Kendall, who was honourably discharged from the army, told this newspaper that he left for work at the St. Joseph High School at around 14:00hours on Thursday, and returned home to find his door had been kicked in, his windows removed, and his entire house, located at Lot 20 Sisters Village, West Bank Demerara, ransacked.
According to Kendall, neighbours informed him that police ranks in black clothing were the ones that broke into his house.
Kendall said that he then made a report at the Wales Police Station, and an officer went to the house. He said that the officer told him to return to the station yesterday.
He told this newspaper that, since he has military training, he wondered if he was wanted by anyone, and contacted the army and the police to enquire.
According to him, he was told that no warrant was out for him, nor did they instruct anyone to go in search of him.
Kendall added that he met with Minister of Home Affairs, Clement Rohee, and aired his complaint, and the minister sent him back to Wales Police Station and asked the police there to conduct an investigation.
However, Kendall said that up to 16:30 hours yesterday, there was only one rank at the police station, and he was informed that there was no detective available.
Kaieteur News contacted the police station and confirmed that a report had been made there, but could not confirm Kendall’s allegation that police ranks had committed the act, or if detectives were unavailable.
