Gem Klautky, the 13-year-old who has been missing for the past week, turned up at her parents’ doorsteps on Wednesday.
Her father, Colin Klautky, told Kaieteur News yesterday that at around 21:15 hrs on Wednesday, the teen was dropped off at their Charles Street, Charlestown home. He said that they found her standing outside their door.
Klautky said that the young woman looked tired, weak and is currently traumatized.
The teen has not been giving out much information to her parents as to where she was staying and who she was staying with, but, according to her father, from all indications his daughter was in South Ruimveldt and was apparently staying at the home of the same conductor with whom she was sighted last Monday.
When questioned as to why his only child would want to run away from home, Mr. Klautky said that she would always complain of being bored at home and he assumed that that is the reason for the recent episode.
He then noted that he and his wife are still trying to recover from the ordeal of losing their daughter.
Meanwhile, the man said he is frustrated with the lackadaisical approach taken by the police in relation to the matter. He noted that although the child is under aged and was in the company of the minibus conductor, the police have not arrested the conductor.
Mr. Klautky has expressed his appreciation to all those who
have assisted the family in trying to locate his daughter, especially to the Ethnic Relations Commission (ERC).
The 13-year-old disappeared last Saturday after she left her parents’ home for choir practice.
She was, however, seen in South Ruimveldt on Monday, enquiring about the whereabouts of a minibus conductor who lives in the area.
