Guyana’s boxers excel in Trinidad

– Already secure 2 gold, 3 silver medals

Guyana’s boxers at the Junior Caribbean Amateur Boxing Association Championships in Trinidad and Tobago excelled in their respective fights to be among the medals and in line for more.

According to reports emanating from the Twin Island Republic from the Guyanese camp and supplied by Guyana Amateur Boxing Association President Affeeze Khan, the Guyanese fighters have already secured medals and are in line for more.

Lone female pugilist, Mandessa Moses, claimed a gold medal when she defeated Trinidadian Leeann Budram. Muchan Sanchar collected the second gold medal with his victory over Jesse Beckles.

Akeem Alexander, who had opened things in impressive fashion for Guyana, had to settle for silver after being beaten by Trinidad’s Dillon Gilbert.

Stephan Gouveia beat Travis Maynard when the referee stopped their contest in the opening round to assure himself of a silver medal.

Gouveia was scheduled to battle Matthew Stedwell for the gold last evening.
Randolph Douglas took silver for Guyana following his loss to Barbadian Cobia Bradde.

Orlando Allicock was down to fight last night, while Cleveland Rock was scheduled to take on Sharez Delores in one of last night’s finals.
