The partly decomposed body of 12-year-old Christopher McLean was found at the koker at Nismes, West Bank Demerara, at about noon yesterday.
According to a police press release, the body is currently at the West Demerara Regional Hospital mortuary, awaiting a post mortem examination.
The lad of Craig, East Bank Demerara, was reported to have drowned while fishing with friends in the Demerara River in the vicinity of Craig Sideline Dam on July 22, last.
When he had disappeared, McLean’s grandmother had said that her grandson’s clothing was found on the sea dam, and persons who witnessed the incident said the water was too deep for anyone to venture in to save him.
When the incident occurred, there were conflicting reports about what transpired at the sea dam.
One resident said that the lad was pushed into the river by another youth from the area. The man had noted that McLean had a problem with one of the boys he was playing with and it was the said boy who pushed him in the river.
