Rivalry in the Banks DIH Coca Cola sponsored Berbice Football Association (BFA) division-one league is set to continue this weekend with four matches tomorrow.
The winless Rosignol United and Rainbow Generation will square off in the first game of a double header at the No. 5 Playfield from 14:00hrs.
The main attraction brings together defending champions Monedderlust fresh off a 5-0 drubbing of Brazilla, against Real Union who were 1-0 winners over Rainbow Generation last weekend.
Over at the Blairmont Settlement ground, Brazilla will be seeking to redeem themselves when they face Mahaicony United in the feature game from 16:00hrs. Opening play two hours earlier will be Paradise Invaders and Corentyne.
In latest senior-league results, defending champions Monedderlust drubbed Brazilla 5-0 compliments of a Gladwin Johnson hat-trick (50, 60 & 68). His brother Sherwin sealed the deal 5 minutes before time, while Trevis Henry opened the scoring in the 10th minute from a spot kick.
Thanks to a 65th minute penalty from Shervin Crandon, Corentyne triumphed over hosts Rosignol United, their 4th successive loss of the season.
Cougars displayed a lot of courage and determination in clawing back from two goals down to share the points equally against New Amsterdam United (NAU).
NAU jumped into the lead with goals by Jumal and Kelvin Joseph in the 2nd and 30th minute. But a Horace Roache double (55 & 67) evened the score for Cougars.
Real Union took full points without breaking a sweat, their opponents, Rainbow Generation showed up over an hour late while Mahaicony United and Paradise Invaders who were scheduled to play in the other match never turned up.
The BFA has stated that all defaulting clubs will be penalized in accordance with the competition rules and they are also subject to face further disciplinary action.
Meanwhile, the BFA’s under-15 competition will continue today from 10:00hrs at the Corriverton ground with a number of matches.
