Shortly after noon yesterday a truck transporting the tray of a disused truck as well as two truck cabs became entangled on the wires of a utility pole at Chapel and Norton Streets, Lodge.
The ensuing tension on the wires, given that the truck driver did not stop, caused the pole to snap, leaving a transformer lodged across the centre of the roadway and several live wires exposed.
Crews from the Guyana Power and Light were quickly summoned to the area and disconnected the power before replacing the damaged pole.
Up to late in the evening power was still out. And the truck that caused the damage? It drove along its merry way to a location along East Bank Demerara.
