MYO (back to back) and Enterprise were in winners row when play in the Muslim Youth Organisation (MYO) of Guyana 10 overs Inter-Jamaat Tapeball round-robin cricket competition sponsored by Trophy Stall continued last weekend at the MYO ground, Woolford Avenue, Thomas Lands, Georgetown.
MYO first took care of Grove who batted first and were limited to 76-8, Shafeek Ishmael hitting the top score of 21 with back up from Shameer Hussain with 11.
Raymond Harper and Richard Latiff picked up 2 wickets each for MYO who eased their way to 77 without losing a wicket.
Zulfikar Ali smashed 44 while Latiff capped a fine all round display by contributing 26 with the bat. MYO then went on to defeat Farm ‘A’ in their match up.
Enterprise recorded a 30 run win over Cornelia Ida who were restricted to 53-6 in response to Enterprise’ 83-4. Enterprise, were led to their winning total by respective innings of 19 by Rasheed Baksh (not out) and Zaheer Mohamed.
Naeem Kahleel and Vickash Dashram took 2 wickets each for 10 and 7 runs respectively for Cornelia Ida who could only muster 53-6, Chandrika Persaud the only batsman reaching double figures with 16.
In the bowling department for the winners it was a collective effort with Sultan Safdar, Rasheed Baksh and Zaheer Mohamed each picking up a wicket.
Four more matches will be contested on Sunday. Farm ‘B’ will play back to back, taking on Windsor Forest from 09:00hrs and Queenstown 2 hours later.
LBI oppose Windsor Forest who will also play back to back from 13:00hrs with the final game bringing together Lusignan and New Mosque ‘B’.
