DEAR EDITOR,
I write in relation to an article published in the Stabroek News of Monday July 7, 2008, on Page 23 and captioned “PPP/C, PNCR-IG clash over bills for visiting police, soldiers”. The article was written by OLUATOYIN ALLEYNE.
Reference was made therein to my presentation on the Visiting Forces Bill 2008, in the Parliamentary Debate in relation thereto, a very serious matter indeed.
Unfortunately, many readers including myself could not understand what the nature and/or content of my presentation that was purportedly being referred to was.
In addition, I found the article had in fact distorted my said presentation by pulling out snippets that lacked the true context of what I had in fact said.
In conclusion, I am sure you will agree with me that it is curious journalism to write that persons agreed or disagreed with a presentation without giving readers a true account of what the presentation was.
