The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Buxton Inter Block football competition will continue this afternoon with a lone match at the Buxton play field.
Starting at 4:00 pm Buxton Middle Walk, led by captain Dexter Thomas, will clash with Vigilance for a chance to move into the semi-final. Compton Charles will captain Vigilance. The winner if this afternoon’s game will take on Annandale.
When the competition opened a week ago Annandale defeated Brusche Dam by a 1-0 margin. The penalty which decided the winner was taken by Owen Jacobs. The goal was fiercely disputed by members of the Brusche Dam side as there was no net in the goal.
However, Parliamentary Secretary Steve Ninvalle has informed that the Ministry secured nets soon after, two of which will be installed for today’s encounter and the rest of the competition.
The team winning the competition will receive $50,000 while the runner up will collect $20,000. Both prizes are being sponsored by Polar Ice.
The two teams will also be presented with trophies. The other teams in contention are: Friendship Back, Company Front, Friendship Front and Red Street.
