The offspring of a man who had been involved in motor racing for a major portion of his life, young Kristian Jeffrey, son of former motorbike champion and now car racer Kevin Jeffrey, told Kaieteur Sport that the experience he gained racing in Canada will boost his chances of maintaining his lead in the Go-Karts category, at the Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club July 27 Meeting.
The younger Jeffrey recently returned from Lemington, Canada where he competed in the Brian Stewart Kart Meet and placed third against some of the best competitors in that country.
“During my stay in Canada I had the privilege of witnessing another side of karting that I knew nothing of.” “I saw a lot more tricks and I intend to use them during this upcoming Meet to preserve my lead in the points standing,” Jeffrey said.
Jeffrey, who will most likely be racing in his final Meet, before returning to Canada to attend King’s College where he will pursue a Degree in Business Management informed that apart from College, he is heavily inclined to enter the racing car category sometime in the near future so that may also result in his departure from karts.
He reckoned that his cousin Stefan Jeffrey and Shane Alli could very well pose the stiffest opposition to his ambition of sustaining his ascendancy in the division.
Meanwhile, Dad, Kevin in invited comments said that his preparation is going well, giving credit to his mechanic Brian Ten-Pow, who according to him has the car in impeccable condition and expects to be in the fray come race day.
The senior Jeffrey, who drives an AWD turbo-charged 550BHP Mitsubishi Evolution 8 machine sprung a surprise at the last Meet against the likes of current lap record holder and leading Group 4 driver Andrew King and Mark Vieira stated that he expects to be right up there with them.
“Even though I haven’t had much seat time since the last Meet, I am confident that we will be very competitive come race day,” Jeffrey pointed out.
