The national junior squash team continued their fantastic showing at the Caribbean Junior Squash Championships in Bermuda yesterday.
The majority of the Guyana Girls team, with the exception of Daina King, advanced to the finals earlier yesterday afternoon.
Guyana is already guaranteed of at least two individual titles after their girls team swept aside the opposition in the under-15 and 17 categories to set up all Guyana finals.
Identical twins Keisha and Kayla Jeffrey will do battle for the under-17 title after disposing of Kelly Barnes (BER) and Brooke Burrowes (JAM) in their respective semi-finals.
The other all Guyanese finals will feature number one seed Mary Fung-A-Fat against the only unseeded player to make a final, Ashley DeGroot.
Alex Arjoon also displayed magnificent squash against team-mate, Oliver Downes, to progress into the Boys under-17 finals against number 1 seed Cameron Stafford (CAY).
The other finalist will be defending under-13 champion, Victoria Arjoon who is overwhelmingly favoured to retain her title against number 2 seed Emma Keane.
Today’s match schedule has been brought forward to facilitate the completion of the finals before hurricane Bertha hits the island.
