Farm ‘A’ and Enterprise recorded back to back victories when play in the Trophy Stall sponsored Muslim Youth Organization (MYO) of Guyana 10 overs Inter-Jamaat tapeball round-robin cricket competition continued last Sunday and Monday at the M.Y.O. ground, Woolford Avenue.
On Sunday, Farm A raced to a 10 wicket win over Lusignan who were bowled out for 67, Alim Khan led with 28. The main wrecker with the ball was Gafoor Mohamed who claimed 4-11 for Farm who reached 68-0, Yunus Mohamed lashing 38 and Imran Hussain 25.
Farm also made a successful run chase against Triumph, winning the encounter by 5 wickets. Triumph batted first and were limited to 85-9 off their allotted overs.
The top scorer was Arvin Persaud (30) and Shazim Khan contributed 17. Farm reached 86-5, Vivian Bissoon stroking 38 and Yunus Mohamed 15.
Enterprise defeated LBI by 7 wickets and were also victors over Farm B. LBI batting first were all out for 47. Rajendra Chandrika made the top score of 28 to lead Enterprise to 48-3.
In other results, Grove won a 2-run thriller against Triumph who were sent packing for 71 in response to Grove’s 73 all out.
Cornelia Ida fell to Kitty by 8 wickets after making 67-6 with Alvin Bissoondyal 29 and Naeem Khalil 22. Bowling for Kitty, Troy Baksh took 3-12 and Mustaq Abdul 2-4. Kitty ended the run chase at 68-2, Ceon Bovell led the run chase with an unbeaten 35 and Ahmad Bahadur 23. And Hustlers XI were victorious over New Mosque B.
Four matches are scheduled for Sunday. From 09:00hrs Queenstown oppose LBI. Two hours later MYO tests Hustlers XI, at 13:00hrs MYO will be in action again this time against Meten-Meer-Zorg who will also play back to back when they take on Triumph from 15:00hrs.
