Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) member, Lloyd Joseph, who was the People’s National Congress Reform nominee on that body, died on Monday.
Joseph, an attorney at law, of Lot 279 Republic Park, East Bank Demerara, was in the United States of America undergoing medical attention when he died.
In a statement issued yesterday, the PNCR stated that the sad news was related to them on Monday.
Party Leader, Robert Corbin and other members of the Central Executive Committee noted that they ‘offer sincere and heartfelt sympathy to his wife, children and other relatives.’
Joseph, the statement said, gave outstanding service and made important contributions to Guyana not only in the legal field but also as the second General Manager of the National Insurance Scheme (NIS) when it was established by the PNC Government in 1969.
At the time of his death he was also a serving member of the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) where he represented the views of the Parliamentary Opposition.
As an Attorney-at-Law he also lent his considerable skills to the Trade Union fraternity in an advisory capacity.
The PNCR stated that the party benefited from his counsel, advice and guidance on a range of issues and his passing ‘will certainly create a gap in the institutional memory of the organisation.’
Joseph was originally from Hope Town, Berbice.
