The 10-year-old girl who survived Sunday night’s smash-up which claimed the lives of five people is in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit of the Georgetown Public Hospital.
The victim, Priya Ally, sustained a broken arm, legs and ribs, along with other injuries, and has not yet regained consciousness.
A number of devastated relatives were at the hospital yesterday afternoon. They said that they hope Ally, a student of the Timehri Primary School, pulls through. Five young men from Plaisance were killed on Sunday night following a two-vehicle collision.
Dead are: Jason and Julian Martin, 19 and 20 respectively, of 36 Victoria Road; Esra Ferguson, 16, of Lot 14 Public Road; Colin Ferguson,19, and Royston Dempster, 27, of Lot 12 Graham Street.
This newspaper has learnt that the young men were at a creek on the Soesdyke/Linden Highway, and the driver of the car, Jason Martin, may have been imbibing.
At about 21:00hrs, while heading north along the East Bank Demerara Public Road, in the vicinity of Land of Canaan, the car that they were travelling in, PLL 328, collided with a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV).
The car also slammed into Priya Ally, who was walking south along the western half of the public road with her uncle, Hemnauth Agard, and his reputed wife, Nazeema Ally.
