Two months after 21-year-old Christopher Maloney was shot and killed while going to his mother’s rescue, a second suspect in the incident has turned himself in to the Police. Maloney was killed on Saturday, May 3 last.
This newspaper was reliably informed that on Thursday last, the suspect, in the company of his lawyer, turned himself over to ranks at the Kitty Police Station.
Sources close to the investigations say that the first suspect, who is currently on remand after he was charged with Maloney’s murder, had fingered the second suspect.
On May 14 last, 20-year-old Harold Troy Critchlow, of Agricola, East Bank Demerara, was charged with Maloney’s murder. During his first court appearance, he indicated to Principal Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle that he did not commit the act.
The source added that after the first suspect was located, he gave the name of the second suspect. Investigators say they had since visited the home of the second suspect on several occasions, but failed to locate him. The source added that now that the man has made himself available to the Police, there would be a confrontation between the two men, who will be further questioned, and charges will be laid if necessary.
Christopher Maloney was shot by one of four men at his William Street, Kitty home on Saturday, May 3 last, after he attempted to rescue his mother, the owner of Maggie’s Restaurant, who was being attacked by the men. Maloney was shot in the chest, and was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he later succumbed while being treated.
