DEAR EDITOR,
I do hope that opposition leaders Robert Corbin, Raphael Trotman and others are paying attention to what those mothers are saying about their criminal sons.
The mother of Jermaine ‘Skinny’ Charles hit the nail right on the head about the root cause for the crimes we are witnessing today in Guyana with youth men.
Charles’s mother said her son had taken on odd jobs, but the other older boys in the community used to always tease him, telling him: “Boy, why you wuking for them lil bit money?
Boy is wuh you deh pun?” What is more glamorous in making quick, big money, working for a living or to be doped up on drugs with a gun in hand and sent out to rob and kill innocent, defenseless people?
That statement alone, “Boy, why you wuking for them lil bit money?” tells us that Skinny and others are hired killers and are well connected, especially if he was involved in the killings of the minister, his family and security guard, and other killings.
This should put to rest the claim of African Guyanese marginalisation, African Guyanese armed resistance, and African Guyanese discrimination by Government.
Like the other mother said, her son lived by the sword, so he died by the sword.
The time has come for mothers and fathers to see that their sons are not hired guns for political bosses and drug lords. Once again, I appeal to mothers and fathers to not live your life through the eyes of politicians.
Do not allow your sons to live their lives through the eyes of drug lords.
It is your responsibility to know what your children are doing at all times; and if they go wayward, inform the legal authorities, please.
The perception is that there are some mothers who enjoy the loot and will not report their sons missing.
Every mother and father has the chance now to report their missing sons who are believed to be in gangs.
Do it now before it is too late.
