A fine unbeaten century from Tulsie Sahadeo spurred Belle Plaine to a 110 run victory over Sea Shore as the Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) 15 over round robin softball cricket competition continued in Wakenaam last Sunday.
Sahadeo hit 109 and was supported by Olwin Paton 45 and Keval Chulai 30 as Belle Plaine rattled up 214 -3 from their allotted 15 overs. In reply Sea Shore were bowled for 104 in 13 overs.
Tulsieram Ramdeen 30 and Faheem Azweem 28 were the only batsmen to show any resistance as Romel Rahat 3 – 14 , Tulsie Sahadeo 2 – 19 and Shylinder Chulai 2 – 27 did the damage with the ball for Belle Plaine.
In the day’s second game, All Star defeated Sea Shore by 97 runs. All Star batted first and made 148 for 9 off 15 overs. Abdul Salim top scored with 28 while Nazeer Mohamed supported with 26. Mark Gittens captured 2 – 24 and Squadie Ramrattan 2 – 10 for Sea Shore who in reply were bundled out for 51 off 11oivers.
Salim returned with the ball to capture 5 – 9, while Gurnauth Khemraj and Jaggernauth Manbodhe supported with two wickets each.
In other matches played, All Star defeated Belle Plaine by two wickets, Sea Shore got the better of Sarah by 35 runs and Maria’s Pleasure went down to Sarah by 7 wickets.
Scores – Belle Plaine 178 for 4 in 15 overs (Olwin Paton 76 Keval Chulai 39, Tulsie Sahadeo 23, Gurnauth Khemraj 2 – 30) All Star 179 for 8 in 14.1 overs (Abdool Salim 69, Wayne Osborne 45, Wazir Khan 28, Romel Rahat 2 – 17 , Keval Chulai 2 – 26).
Sea Shore 175 – 4 in 15 overs (Mark Gittens 59, Zameer Zaman 22, Neil Ramalho 22, Imran Khan 20) Sarah 140 – 5 in 15 overs (Melvorne Daniels 25, Narendra Bhagpattie 20, Vinood Ramdeen 2 -18, (Mark Gittens 2 – 16, Zameer Zaman 2 – 20, Tulsieram Ramdeen 2 – 14).
Maria’s Pleasure 98 all out in 13 overs (Elton Dharry 18, Mahadeo Ramdeo 13, Dilip Persaud 3 – 10 in 11 overs (Dilip Persaud 38, Bisham Bhagpattie 15, Mahadeo Ramdeo 2 -18.
The Competition continues and ends on Monday with the semi-finals and final. All Star will do battle with Sarah in first semi-final while in second semi-final Belle Plaine will face Sea Shore . The winners will then clash in the final.
