DEAR EDITOR,
What was an interactive programme that gave Berbicians an actual voice on the airwaves in airing matters of concerns to them is now a one-sided conversation that is continually called “Let’s Talk Berbice”, aired on Channel 15.
Of recent, this programme does not entertain any callers. If the programme allows callers, then it is not done on a magnitude like before.
Before, there was a time when Berbicians called and lambasted the government on this same channel.
Before, there was a time when this very programme became popular for the calls it received by lending Berbicians a way to vent their frustrations and anger, much to the disappointment to the ones in charge, that is.
I daresay the current format of the programme is a deliberate ploy to deflect attention from rather pressing and relevant issues affecting Berbicians to sheer propaganda.
Yes, as I said, the programme is now a one-sided conversation in showing several news footage of walkabouts held by ministers and other government officials, handing-over ceremonies, pro-government speeches and other forms of propaganda – anything to distract the viewers from calling in to the programme.
What went wrong? Couldn’t they have taken the heat?
Then why did NCN Berbice have such disregard for viewers on Friday, June 27, 2008 at 7:35 pm when they stopped the Press Briefing by Mr. Luncheon to air another programme without even saying a word?
At least they could’ve whipped up a graphic that was loaded with spelling errors. You mean to tell me that they could not even have done that?
