Most of the country’s top word-formers will converge at the Linden Economic Advancement Programme (LEAP) Office in the Mining Town today to contest the Earl Vigilance Memorial Scrabble Tournament.
According to a release from the Guyana Association of Scrabble Players (GASP) who along with family members of the late player has organised and sponsored the event, among those expected to compete in the competition are national champion Frederick Collins, Ulric Harris, Abigail McDonald, Ruby Cummings, Leon Belony, Moen Gafoor, Colin Chichester, Orlando and Rudolph Michael, Floyd Carmichael, Curtis Liverpool and Lindener Grace Hercules.
With the Caribbean Championships looming, those selected to the national squad will no doubt use this tournament to get valuable practice as they prepare to take on the rest of the region next month.
Starting time is 10:00 hrs.
