Residents of Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara showed their bravery and intolerance for banditry when they apprehended an armed bandit after he had discharged all the bullets from his weapon in his bid to escape.
The bandit was eventually handed over to the Police, but not before he had received a severe thrashing at the hands of his captors.
According to reports, at around 20:30 hours, the bandit and his accomplice, who were on a bicycle, held up and robbed Linden Harris.
During the robbery, Harris raised an alarm and the Cummings Lodge residents responded.
Kaieteur News understands that, upon seeing the residents, who had armed themselves with pieces of wood, the bandit discharged about six rounds from his .45 calibre weapon in a bid to escape.
When his rounds ran out, the residents cornered, eventually captured and proceeded to discipline the bandit.
The weapon was recovered.
