After an unpredictable first night which produced numerous upsets at the GT&T sponsored National Senior Squash Championships at the Georgetown Club courts, the second round of the competition saw all the top seeds advancing to the next round.
In the Ladies competition Ashley Khalil and Tiffany Solomon set up a repeat of last year’s semi-final when they got past Kayla Jeffrey and Victoria Arjoon respectively.
The other semi-final will feature defending champion Keisha Jeffrey against the formidable Nicolette Fernandes, who overcame Mary Fung-A-Fat and Daina King respectively.
On the men’s side, the top eight seeds all advanced to the quarter-final stage without dropping a game.
The number one seed Kristian Jeffrey will take on the tricky Jerazeno Bell, while second seed Robert Fernandes is down to play two-time under-15 Caribbean champion Alexander Arjoon.
The other two quarter-finals will feather a resurgent former champion Regan Pollard against junior national Raphael DeGroot, and Oliver Downes will try to prevent Nicolette Fernandes from advancing to the semi-final.
The men’s quarters were fixed for yesterday while the semi-finals and finals of both categories will take place today and tomorrow evening respectively.
