DEAR EDITOR,
Speaking in the United States of America, President Jagdeo said that he has video tapes that show links between certain sets of people and criminals.
What is startling about those revelations is the fact that the tapes existed before the massacres.
Why were those who profess to be speaking on behalf of society but rather have sinister agenda and dabbling with criminals not exposed? Who knows if lives would have been saved?
The president alluded to the protection of the informants and makers of the tapes. , while these persons are protected, the persons allegedly caught on tape remain free to offer additional support to the criminal enterprise.
The President also said that he saw the security reports and he knew those that were part of the criminal enterprise. Why were these people not arrested before?
Now that the tapes exist, Guyanese would want these arrests to be expeditiously done.
Starve the criminals from the inputs of intelligent thinking Mr. President who knows what will be planned next.
I took note that Minister Robeson Benn was peeved at the way his son was treated and plans to take private action against the police.
Those are the very plights that are often highlighted by citizens.
I am sure that this is not a one off case where a citizen is unduly harassed by the police. These incidents are highlighted in the media everyday.
Did Minister Benn ever think of having dialogue with his colleague Minister Rohee about police excessive?
Like the President he might have waited too long to act.
