DEAR EDITOR,
Please allow me to express my heart felt condolences to the relatives and friends of the Lindo Creek victims. You have, for all the wrong reasons, joined the growing population of grieving relatives who lost their loved ones under similar tragic circumstances.
I pray the Lord comfort you in this time of your bereavement.
Much has been said about the incident and blame has been cast from all sections of the society about who is responsible for the mass murder.
I would not like to be drawn into the speculation and time consuming shenanigans about who was responsible since I am convinced that the relatives and friends of those eight men are searching for the truth about what took place.
So like many patriotic and law abiding citizens, I will like to see tangible efforts by all the law enforcement agencies to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Since a large segment of our population is convinced that the security forces had a role in this heinous crime, I want to respectfully submit that all the ranks deployed to the Christmas Falls area be subjected to the polygraph test so that we can remove the speculation from the public domain of their involvement.
Given the unequivocal statement by the Joint Services of non culpability such a test should not be a problem for the ranks, since they will have nothing to hide.
Failure to take such a measure will severely hamper the work of the Joint Services and significantly damage their minuscule public confidence remaining.
I do not have to remind the security czars of our society how important public confidence is to the work of the Joint Services in creating a conducive environment for crime fighting.
Let us take the appropriate action now to arrest the perception among the citizenry that a culture of barbarism is swiftly developing in our security force, and restore their confidence and pride in professionalism of our service men.
Bevon Currie
