More than $250,000 in prizes was given away yesterday when Fogarty’s brought the curtain down on its Father’s Day promotion.
People became eligible to be a part of the venture when they shopped at the Fogarty’s Supermarket during the period of June 9 through June 15.
The promotion saw more than 1,600 entries but in the end only 14 persons were selected as the winners of prizes.
Among them were Seo Naraine who won the grand prize of a refrigerator; Shanice Simon who copped a Sharp 20-inch television set; Shem Cuffy, the winner of an air bike; Oswald Low-A-Chee won a Berbice chair; Frank Gomes took home a DVD player while Sangeeta Singh and Manny La Rose both won watches.
Delicia Moore was presented with a Brand-name cologne; Michelle Ward won a Tool Kit while Chandrageth Persaud, Doreen Singh, Etwaria Itwaru, and Winston Richards each won for themselves a 14-piece hair trimmer set.
In congratulating the winners, Executive Director, Mr Vibert Parvatan thanked them for their continued patronage and emphasised the importance of building good father/children relationships.
He said the many problems in the society such as domestic violence and other such circumstances could possibly be halted if the leadership and guidance of fathers are engaged.
As such he noted that fathers have the potential to help their children properly develop.
And so for this reason he said that major focus was given to fathers as the promotion got underway.
Meanwhile, Fogarty’s already has other plans apace to kick off its annual back to school promotion. This promotion will allow a lucky student to win a computer system for his/her school. Students will also become eligible to win other prizes such as haversacks and book organisers.
