DEAR EDITOR,
The AFC is distributing seeds all across Guyana to Guyanese so they can plant seeds, so it can grow into foods to feed Guyanese.
The party’s statement also said that persons interested in receiving plants or making contributions to the initiative could contact any member.
To me, this sounds like the AFC is begging for donations so as to give away plant seeds in order to gain political mileage.
Whatever the motives are, this could never look good as what the headlines say: “Strong support for AFC seeds of change initiative.”
AFC said, too, that its only expectations is that the seedlings would be planted, nurtured and used to produce food in this time of acute need, and not be allowed to fall by the wayside, or trodden upon or eaten by animals.
Remember what happened to our beloved PNCR chicken farm project in Buxton?
The same way AFC wants you to plant those seeds and nurture them to produce food, and make sure they’re not eaten by animals or fall by the wayside, or be trodden upon.
Make sure your contributions will not be used to help AFC bad mouth the PPP/C Government and to send frivolous letters and claims of Government abuses to the UN.
Make sure your contribution will not be used by AFC to represent more criminals gunned down by Guyana security forces, as AFC is doing now. Make sure your contributions are for plant seeds and plant seeds only.
Remember, it is your contributions that AFC wants to make itself look good to Guyanese to gain your confidence and your votes at election time.
Hold the AFC leaders accountable for your contributions if you have or will contribute to this AFC initiative.
We await these plant seeds to grow and to provide food for Guyanese.
We hope that AFC keeps us appraised at all stages of its initiative, and not wait until the 2011 general elections to tell us the amount of food produced by those seeds.
