Caribbean International Distributors Incorporated (CIDI) through its Blue Life Purified Water and Thrill Soft Drinks Brands has pledged their continued support for the Golden Jaguars despite the team’s elimination from World Cup 2010 after losing their return fixture to Suriname on Sunday at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence 2-1 to go down 3-1 on aggregate.
In a press release, CIDI’s Sales & Marketing Manager, Alisia Katideen said the team may not have roared as loudly as we would have wanted them to but, as was conveyed to the team in the dressing room after the game by Katideen, it was a game well played and the Team “has given its all and done well”.
“When CIDI came on board to support the Golden Jaguars the address directly to the players was “don’t ever feel there’s more pressure because of the corporate sponsorship and worrying about having to live up to the expectations of sponsors. We are here to support you all the way to 2010.” We will stand by that commitment.
Winning is “good”, but losing is “good for you”, if you let it. Just as training makes you a better athlete, losing trains your mind to set new goals and will make you realize, there is always going to be someone or some team better.
“To become better, you must learn from the mistakes you make and correct them for future confrontations. It is not who you beat in competition, it is how much better you performed than the last time. Instead of blaming equipment, a teammate, coach or someone else for a loss, focus on the weak areas of your individual or team’s performance.
“A team becomes more powerful and successful when all involved help each other to reach full potential. This includes the sponsors, the coaching & technical team, administrators of the game, the government, and most importantly the fans.
Guyanese and corporate Guyana have shown the camaraderie, commitment and patriotism having come out in their numbers to “Roar” with our boys and it is that support, the team needs to keep them focused and positive.
“We have lost our bid for 2010 but let this be the start to our road for 2014. We should not give up we can only get better from here onwards. With the professional support of the Guyana Football Federation, the Technical Team led by Mr. Jamaal Shabaaz, Corporate Guyana, Media and the Fans “The Golden Jaguars” will “Roar” again.
“On behalf of Blue Life Purified Water, Thrill Soft Drinks and CIDI, as a corporate entity please allow me to convey my congratulations to Mr. Shabaaz and the Team for giving their all and trying their best not only for themselves but for the country,” the release stated.
