The body of Motiram Gangadai, called ‘Lunny,’42, who fell into a canal on Saturday last, has been recovered.
Sometime after noon on Saturday, the speedboat operator of Louisiana Village, Leguan, fell into a canal while crossing a bridge in Phoenix, a neighbouring village.
Meanwhile, according to a Police source, the man’s body was spotted by a resident at sometime around 13:00 hours yesterday, not far from where the man had fallen.
The Police were informed and the body was removed. The body has since been transferred to a city mortuary awaiting a post mortem examination.
Initial reports had stated that Gangadai had fallen off his bicycle while riding across a bridge at Phoenix, Leguan. The man’s bicycle was found on the bridge by residents of the area, who immediately formed a search party. However, after an intense two-hour search, they failed to locate the man’s body.
A Police source said that the man was seen earlier in the day consuming alcohol at a nearby shop.
