A keen contest is anticipated as Guyana’s Walk Racers prepare for battle against their Caribbean counterparts when the Cavalier Sports and Tour Club in association with the Green Patch Foundation stage its Caricom Day Race Walk on Monday July 7.
The race commences at 06:30hrs at the GUYSUCO, LBI Estate and proceeds along the Railway Embankment ending at the Caricom Headquarters Lillendall.
National Race Walk champion Rudolph Mitchell of Linden is aiming to capture his 76th consecutive title and should expect a challenge from a number of talented new comers.
Trophies, Medals and other prizes will be at stake in the categories Male, Female, Junior and Veteran.
Caricom Secretary General, Dr. Edwin Carrington has been invited to start the Race and later present prises to the winners.
Anyone who is interested in participating is asked to be at the starting line at 06:00hrs.
