Bakewell renews 2nd division sponsorship
June Medes of Farfan and Medes Limited was last Thursday inducted as Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club’s (RHTYSC) third Honourary Patron, while Bakewell renewed their sponsorship of the club’s second division team and Western Union contributed towards the RHTYSC’s Academy.
RHTYSC in their contribution towards sports also present $180,000 worth of material to the Guyana Cricket Umpires Council (GCUC) to be used by the Georgetown Cricket Umpires and Scorers Association during their weekly umpiring classes.
Assistant Secretary/Treasurer Zabeer Zakier was on hand to collect the donation from the Club which has already provided similar support to Umpires in Essequibo and Berbice.
The various presentations were made at the Guyana Cricket Board’s Secretariat and Secretary and CEO of the vibrant Corentyne, Berbice based club, Hilbert Foster said since its formation in 1990, the club has had the privilege of having two persons who have served it in an Honorary and non-executive position.
“Former President of the Republic of Guyana Mister Hugh Desmond Hoyte served as the Patron from 1991 to the time of his death in 2002 while businessman Peter Ramsaroop served as the Patron from 2003 to 2007,” Foster informed.
“The hardest thing about being the best in your class is to maintain your level of high standards while expanding to meet more demands. The RHTYSC continues to expand on a daily basis and the pressure to make sure that everything succeeds or is at the standard expected of us is something too much to bear.
As we expand to new programmes and projects, the club’s management led by our President Keith Foster is determined to stay the course despite the fact that every new day brings new challenges including the high cost of gear, transportation and electricity bills among other things,” the CEO explained.
Foster said that over the last 12 years the club has had the privilege of having Mrs. Mendes and her company as one of their main sponsors and said that the relationship has been very fruitful and successful.
“On behalf of our executive and members I would like to thank Mrs. Mendes for accepting our offer to become our Patron. We view you as a highly successful businesswoman who has not lost the common touch and who has the interest of others at heart,” Foster told the gathering.
Foster also recognized Bakewell as the manufacturers of the best bread in Guyana and stated that the Bakery became an official sponsor of RHTYSC in 2000 and since then has played a major role in the rapid development of the club into Guyana’s leading Youth and Sports club.
“As the sponsor of our second division team, Bakewell is providing a crucial link between junior teams and our first division team. The Company also sponsors our under-17 team,” Foster noted. Western Union representative Odetta Noel also presented a cheque as their contribution to the Club’s annual Cricket Academy.
