Marvin Humphrey, a fireman, his sister, police rank Rochelle Humphrey and 25-year-old taxi driver, Cecil Davis, were yesterday charged with two counts of robbery under arms and simple larceny.
It was alleged that on February 5 at Land of Canaan, while being armed with a gun they robbed Hilton Baptiste of $75,000.
It was also alleged that they robbed Rauldon Benjamin of a quantity of alcohol and $20,260 cash, all worth $37,260.
In addition, they were charged with stealing a quantity of jewellery from Valerie Gordon. Marvin Humphrey, 25, of Lot 1 Samaroo Dam, West Bank Demerara; police constable Rochelle Humphrey, 23, of the same address, and Davis, 25, of 818 Bell West Bank Demerara all pleaded not guilty.
Police Prosecutor, Denise Griffith, asked that bail be refused. She added that the defendants also went on a rampage in Berbice and similar charges arose from that.
Bail was refused and the matter was transferred to Providence Magistrate’s Court.
