– assailant contacts her via cell phone from lock-ups
After the horrific chopping incident, early last Sunday morning, that has left Simone Fiedtkou maimed and seriously injured, the victim yesterday sought to give her account of what transpired. She claimed that she was doing this because she feels that she “may not live another day.”
Fiedtkou says that she is in constant pain from the numerous cuts about her body, and from the “cramps” she experiences in her brain. She also sustained a deep gouge on her left arm, between the shoulder and elbow, and she lost the index finger from her right hand. Her right thumb was also split down the middle.
In addition to these injuries, Fiedtkou says that she cannot see colours any longer, probably because of the wound to her head. This loss of colour from her world has left her depressed. Her uncle told this newspaper that whenever she speaks about it, she begins to cry.
Just after the horrific attack Duncan Alleyne, Fiedtkou’s reputed husband, who allegedly chopped her about the body, reportedly called Fiedtkou’s uncle and told him that he was not finished with the woman, that what he had done was only the beginning.
Alleyne was reportedly abusive to Fiedtkou throughout their common-law union. Fiedtkou’s family members told this newspaper that Alleyne “literally kicked their second child out of her.” Numerous reports were made to the police about Alleyne’s abusive ways but the police never did anything about it, saying that it is a ‘husband and wife’ situation and they did not want to get involved.
The final straw came when Alleyne allegedly chopped Fiedtkou about the head and body outside a club in Bartica in the early hours of June 15, 2008. They had apparently separated some time before, but Alleyne’s jealousy was aroused when Fiedtkou began to have ‘casual conversation’ with another man in the Bartica area.
Fiedtkou said that her reputed husband has contacted her numerous times since she has been admitted to the Bartica Hospital. She said that he has been telling her not to make a statement or press charges against him. He has apparently been calling her from within the Bartica Police Station lockups, where he is in custody.
The way Alleyne has been able to make constant contact with Fiedtkou has perplexed the victim’s relatives. Alleyne has apparently been making the phone calls from his cellular phone even though he is in the lockups.
After the phone calls, Fiedtkou’s uncle went to the Police Complaints Authority, at Eve Leary at approximately 14:30 hours on Tuesday and explained the situation to them. They in turn called the Bartica Police Station and informed them of the problem. The officers at the Bartica Police Station said that they would look into the matter.
Fiedtkou said that by 21:00 hours that night, Alleyne called back from his cellular phone saying, “Yuh mek dem tek way me phone, but I geh it back now.”
He called again the next day at approximately 06:00 hours and told Fiedtkou that he was sending $100,000 for her to pay for her brain scan. She refused, saying she did not want anything from him.
Sources say that one of Alleyne’s friends made contact with Fiedtkou, telling her that he had the money and that she should come and collect it when she is ready for it. Alleyne was brought to Georgetown yesterday morning and placed before the courts on a charge of attempted murder.
Principal Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle refused his request for bail and remanded him to prison until July 9.
