Linden youths questioned about alleged links to ‘Fine Man Gang’ : – four detained at Eve Leary

Police in Georgetown were last night questioning four Linden youths whom they suspect may have information about fugitive Rondell ‘Fine Man’ Rawlins and his gang.

But two mothers whose sons are being detained at CID Headquarters, Eve Leary, denied that the youths had any links with Rawlins, or had any previous brushes with the law.

Kaieteur News understands that at around 09:00 hrs yesterday, armed Police ranks went to Oronoque Drive, Retrieve, Linden and took seven young men into custody.

Four of them were subsequently questioned at CID Headquarters, Eve Leary.
One of the women said she managed to speak with her son at Eve Leary.

According to her, the youth said that the detectives who questioned him alleged that he was in Bartica some time ago with Rawlins.

“They say that he does be in Bartica with ‘Fine Man’. My son never travelled to Bartica!”
She also said that her son is a member of a popular football team, and has never been in trouble with the law.

According to the woman, several Police ranks first visited Oronoque Drive, Linden on Monday night, and had searched a house where her son and others had gone to play video games. However, no one was arrested.

She said that the ranks returned at around 09:00 hrs and ordered several young men to lie on the ground during a heavy downpour.

Her son was also arrested. The young men were taken to the Mackenzie Police Station, where a Police officer informed her that they were being questioned about “the wanted man.”

Four of the men, including her son, were then transported to Georgetown and detained at CID Headquarters, Eve Leary.

The other woman said that her son was sleeping when the policemen arrived at her home and demanded to see him. He was then transported to Georgetown along with three others.

Police sources say that they are working on information provided to them by key members of the Rawlins Gang whom they recently captured.
