-16-year-old accomplice nabbed
A 65-year-old farmer shot a young robber dead after the youth and a 16-year-old accomplice attacked him at his Lower Kara Kara, Linden home at around 21:30 hrs on Saturday night.
The slain youth, known only as ‘Eon’, was shot in the chest when he attempted to attack the farmer, who was armed with a licensed shotgun.
His alleged accomplice, who was detained, is said to be a delinquent schoolboy who is a substance abuser and has been arrested on numerous occasions for assaulting his mother.
Kaieteur News understands that George Marshall, a farmer of Lower Kara Kara, Linden, was about to enter his home when the two youths, who were armed with a knife and a cutlass, attacked him.
The bandits forcibly accompanied Marshall into his home, where they relieved their victim of a quantity of jewellery, a wristwatch and a DVD player.
But as the two thieves were leaving, Marshall armed himself with his shotgun and confronted them.
According to reports, the youth identified as ‘Eon’ attempted to attack the farmer, who shot him in the chest.
Police say that the other teen promptly surrendered.
But, according to other reports, the suspect was arrested at Kara Kara.
The shot bandit was taken to the McKenzie Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
He was reportedly wearing a gold ring belonging to the farmer when he was slain, while the other youth was found with the farmer’s watch.
Police say that all the stolen articles were recovered.
