An outing at a creek off the Soesdyke/Linden highway ended in tragedy yesterday when a 45-year-old man drowned while swimming with friends.
Ganess Deoprasad, of Garden of Eden, East Bank Demerara, was found dead in the creek at around 14:00 hrs by friends who realized that he was missing.
Deoprasad’s wife said that earlier in the day he was swimming with him, but that she left him in the water.
She said that after about five minutes, she realized that he was missing and informed other relatives.
A search ensued, and they eventually found Deoprasad’s lifeless body in the creek.
