Once again the Georgetown versus Linden rivalry will be evoked, but this time the Ladies element will be in play in the opening game of a double-header this evening, at the Mackenzie Sports Club.
In the feature contest of the Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation Inter Sub-Association Tournament, Linden take on East Bank Demerara in the Under-23 category in a clash that also has all of the characteristics of a Linden /Georgetown match-up except that the latter is made up of players exclusively from that region.
Having lost to their nemesis in both the senior and U-20 categories in the Men’s Division, the Mining Town will now look to their women to salvage some pride in the competition.
They have called up a squad of ten players that include Nichola Jacobs, Althea Byass, Sonia Rodney and Maurees Skeete, while Shineza Atwell, Natasha Andrews, Natolia Primo, Ouandie Small and Sabola Gray will spearhead the visitors challenge.
The two teams are:
Georgetown- Natasha Alder, Amera Alphonso, Laurel Anderson, Kean Andrews, Natasha Andrews
Shineza Atwell, Natalia Bishop, Lowquantorlisa Gibson, Sabola Gray, Natalie Howell
