Bandits on the East Bank of Essequibo escaped with cash, jewellery and other items in a rare robbery attack on a minibus driver and his overseas-based guests, on Thursday.
The attack, which was committed by four masked men who were all armed with handguns, occurred at around 01:00h.
According to reports, Kevin Seebarran, a 40-year-old minibus driver, his parents who are visiting from overseas and his wife were aroused by the men who had gained entry through a louvre window.
The victims were then held up by the men who took away the articles and escaped.
During the incident, Kevin Seebarran and his father were struck about their bodies by the bandits.
A report of the incident was made to the police but no one has so far been arrested.
