It has been almost three weeks since 20-year-old Rawle Ramsaywack was mauled by three pit bulls in Queenstown, but there has yet been no action taken against the owner of the animals.
This newspaper caught up with Ramsaywack yesterday as he lay outside of the home of the owner of the dogs waiting for compensation that he was promised.
The man told this newspaper that he was discharged from the Georgetown Public Hospital only on Saturday last. According to Ramsaywack, since the incident, the owner of the dogs came only once to the hospital.
“One time he come and he bring juice and biscuits fuh me; and since ah come out de hospital, I come this morning (yesterday morning) around six, and he tell me come back around one,” Ramsaywack said.
The man added that, after returning at the time specified, and calling for some time, and failing to get an answer, he decided to wait until the man showed up.
“I deh calling and nobody ain’t coming and tell me nothing.”
While Ramsaywack was lying on the parapet, a car was seen blowing its horn at the gate. A woman and a man then came out, opened the gate and let the car in. None of those present at the gate paid attention to the injured Ramsaywack, who was still bandaged.
The injured man’s arms were still swollen, and he said that he was ordered to return to the hospital for his injuries to be dressed every other day. On May 20 last, Ramsaywack was attacked by three pit bulls after he had finished picking mangoes in an empty plot of land in Forshaw Street, Queenstown.
