James Krakowsky with 5 points and a positive spread of 136 carted off the Guyana Association of Scrabble Players Open Tournament played last Sunday at Malteenoes Sports Club.
Krakowsky, who is a member of the national team that will contest the Caribbean Championships from August 1-3, came home ahead of Ulric Harris on 4 wins and a spread of 412, while Floyd Carmichael ended third, also with 4 victories and a spread of 221.
Three other players finished with four wins and they are: Ruby Cummings 172, Colin Chichester 172 and Leon Belony -17.
Cummings, however, defeated Chichester in their encounter to close ahead of him and also beat Harris in an encouraging display.
Meanwhile, GASP recently released the names of eight players to represent them at the Caribbean event and they are: Krakowsky, Harris, Frederick Collins, Abigail McDonald, Moen Gafoor, Chichester, Belony and William Woolford.
The next event on the scrabble calendar is another tournament sponsored by GASP which is set for June 22, at the same venue.
