FORT WELLINGTON, WEST COAST BERBICE – A West Ruimveldt woman is to be placed before a Berbice Court this week after she was reportedly nabbed with a quantity of what is suspected to be cannabis sativa.
A Police official in Division ‘B’ of the Guyana Police Force indicated that the 23-year-old female was in a 63 ‘A’ minibus en route to Rosignol when it was stopped on Saturday.
A routine road block had been erected at Fort Wellington moments earlier. At 02:30 hours the vehicle was heading to get the first boat at the Rosignol Ferry Stelling. The passengers were asked to disembark and were all searched.
The female was allegedly discovered with extra thighs and buttocks, since she had strapped two parcels between her legs and one on her buttocks. Five other packets were said to be stashed away in her handbag. Together, the items weighed nine pounds.
The Police official said that the woman, when questioned, revealed that someone had given her the packages and asked her to drop them off at Rosignol.
