They are billed as Guyana’s most demanding softball cricket teams, the Floodlight ‘A’ and ‘B’ sides will be in action again this weekend.
The two teams will take on a Davo’s Lumber Yard XIII and an East Coast Select XIII at the Ogle Community Centre ground on Sunday. Play starts at 10:00am and each game will be a 25-over per innings affair, and all players are asked to be at the ground at 9:30am.
Admission at the gate is $100 and there will be food and drinks along with musical entertainment to ensure a festive atmosphere at Sunday’s activity. All proceeds from Sunday’s event will go to the Ogle Sanatan Mandir. Ten trophies are at stake in each match, which are being sponsored by Davo Singh, Managing Director of Davo’s Lumber Yard at Ogle and Ramchand Ragbeer, Managing Director of Ramchand Auto Spares of Sheriff Street Georgetown.
The teams for Sunday’s matches are: Davo’s Lumber Yard – Bedi Ramjewan (Captain), Lalta Gainda, Davo Singh, Jones Ragubar, Kumar Persaud, Shawn Jodan, Farook Bissesar, Mohammed Salim, Orin Hudson, Wazir Alli, G. Sanichar, N. Baksh, M. Deonarain, L. Kirpaul and K. Rambaran.
East Coast Select squad will come from: Kayume Haslim (Captain), Anil Hardyal, Zulfikar Alli, Raymond Harper, Romain Mangra, Deonauth Narine, Chris Patadin, Sammy Budhoo, Lloyd Harper, T. Rampersaud, B. Horil, A. Mohammed, N. Wilfred and N. Baksh.
Floodlights ‘A’ Squad: Pitamber Maharaj (Captain), Rohan Boojraj, Jailall Deodas, Sase Sankar, Surendra Nauth, Sheik Mohamed, Mikes Singh, Ricky Deonarain, Ramesh Sunich, Rahaman Khan, Reaz Hussain, Govardhan Arjune, Kamal Seebarran, Derick Ramoutar, Ramchand Ragbeer and Jaipaul Bharat
Floodlights ‘B’ Squad: Fidel Singh (Captain), Rajesh Singh, Mark Singh, Dharam Persaud, Richard Persaud, Mike Singh, Samuel Kingston, Vicky Sooknanan, Ramesh Ramsaroop, Mark Harold, Saheed Gittens, Richard Latif, Devindra Narine, Dennis Mangru and Sheik Mohammed.
