Yesterday at approximately 10:20 hours, two gunmen rushed into the Fidelity Investments Incorporated building on High and Drysdale Streets, Charlestown, and relieved the cashier of $600,000 in cash.
According to the Delivery Clerk, two men, one of whom was armed with a revolver, rushed into the premises and ordered the delivery clerk, a security guard and a labourer to crouch on the floor near a desk in the ground floor of the building.
One of the bandits then proceeded into the cashier’s office where he relieved the cashier, Mark Rose, of the money while his partner kept watch over the other employees. After the bandit had robbed Rose, he returned to where his accomplice was watching the three employees and asked, “Yuh get it?”
According to a press release issued by the police, the bandits also relieved the security guard, Oreth Walters, of a cellular phone.
The bandits then left the building and made their exit in a motor vehicle which was waiting for them. The ordeal lasted for no more than a few minutes and left the delivery clerk visibly shaken. The management of Fidelity Investments Inc said that the police response was “prompt”.
