The Anna Catherina Islamic Complex, for the sixth consecutive year, will be the venue for the Annual National Qaseeda (Muslim Songs in praise of Prophet Muhammad (SAS) Singing Competition, which is scheduled to be held on June 21 and 22. Competition will be in four categories—Male Senior & Junior and Female—Senior & Junior.
Successful contestants in each of the categories will represent Guyana at the International Qaseeda Competition to be hosted in Guyana in October. Guyana last hosted the International event in 2005. Expected at the National Qaseeda Competition are guest artistes from Suriname and Trinidad & Tobago as well as representatives from the Muslim organizations there.
The female competitions will be held on the evening of Saturday June 21 while the male competitions will be held on Sunday June 22. Prizes and awards will be presented on the latter day.
The event is once again being organized by The Muslim Youth League of Guyana, The Guyana United Sadr Islamic Anjuman and The Anna Catherina Islamic Complex.
